Just got through the midterms with flying colors. School is much more difficult than it was in the late 70’s, especially when you do the work and want to excel. In just 2 days, October 5, 2006 I will have 1 year clean and sober. I have been to about three crystal meth anonymous meetings in the last month. After being around the program (30 years) one would not want to tell AA/CMA brothers or sisters that you have not been to many meetings, especially when your 1-year milestone is coming up. Two years ago when I was living in Palm Springs, I was going to meetings everyday sometimes even twice a day. The night that I took my birthday cake at the big Saturday night meeting, I went out afterwards and used meth. Looking back at this slip, I really had been planning to use for sometimes. I used because my screwball eye was on that one year. I had no purpose other than AA/CMA meetings - dreary, dreary. I had no fucking life out of choice. The life I have chosen today is filled with school, schoolwork, school activities and sometimes hanging with some new friends. This coming Saturday night I will go to the Gay AA meeting in Hollywood and take my year cake. I will celebrate afterwards by having some coffee with some new AA friends. Yeahaaa.
