my name is tony. i chose the name gone42long because thats just it for me. i have been gone 4 2 long. my first time using cocaine i was 16 years old. the first time i smoked it was on my 18th birthday. soon after that, slowly but surely i saw my life start to fall apart. 15 years i have been using. twice since i've been using have i known true sobriety. the first time is when i did a year in prison and the second is when i went to stay with family for a few months. the last time i used was last night. will i do it again tonight. i doubt it cause i am broke, but i know as soon as i get some money i'll be heading to the dopeman. to whom ever may read this, if you think you have a solution or even a suggestion i would sure love to hear it.

I've read some studies that show medications such as desipramine, propranolol, amantadine, and bromocriptine can be helpful in reducing withdrawal from cocaine.

Beyond the physical aspects, I think you'd have to find some internal motivation/conviction or get yourself in to a situation where you feel more pressure to not relapse than to use again. Depending on your personality and what drives you, that could be a 12-step program, group therapy, time with family, a couple of classes in community college, a yoga or meditation retreat, exercise, or maybe even eating fresh habanero peppers.

I don't think there's any one definite path to recovery, but starting on A path is a beginning. One thing all the various therapeutic approaches involve, though, is a process of getting to know yourself and ushering in a period of growth and change. You gotta want it!
